Fledgling Announces New Outreach and Engagement Grantees
We are excited to announce four recent grants through our Outreach and Engagement Fund. We believe these projects not only represent impressive storytelling but have the potential to prompt important discussions and change around critical issues.
62 Days Marlise Muñoz was 33 years old and 14 weeks pregnant with her second child when she suffered a pulmonary embolism and was pronounced brain-dead in a hospital in Fort Worth, TX. 62 Days presents an intimate portrait of a family in crisis and will raise awareness of the consequences of “fetal protection” laws. The team is planning their engagement and distribution strategy. Bending .the Arc Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, activist Ophelia Dahl, Todd McCormack, and investor Thomas White who began a movement in the 1980s that changed global health forever. Bending the Arc tells their story. The film premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and has an active impact campaign. The film will be screening in theaters and available for community screenings in October. Love the Sinner This film explores the connection between Christianity and homophobia in the wake of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Love the Sinner probes our responsibility to face bias in our communities and push for dignity and equality for all. It premiered at 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and has an active impact campaign. United Skates This feature film follows an untapped underground subculture many are calling hip-hop of the next generation, United Skates is riding their wave toward discovery inside the faded walls of our country’s last remaining roller rinks. A member of the 2016-17 Fledgling Engagement Lab, this team is mapping out their impact strategy.
